Given that her mother, Jennie, was impressively head of acting for over 20 years at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA), it’s somewhat surprising that she never made the move into drama. Instead, she preferred to stand behind the camera and became engrossed in the world of photography. University didn’t suit her all that well as she spent much of free time working as a cocktail waitress to pay the bills, something she continued to do while assisting when she moved back to London. These were far from wasted years though as they became the very essence of her first solo photography show; her exhibition, held at Milk Studios, was entitled ‘Loos’ and cleverly brought to life those often forgotten conversations and antics held in night club ladies rooms. Very proudly from the East End of London, she now lives here in New York City with her husband and 2 year old daughter. Currently, she’s broadening her career horizon to explore other forms of art, something she discusses more in detail during this show. Please do listen and enjoy because I sure did have a laugh with Zoe Buckman.
